About our medicine carrier Taita Claudino Perez Torres:
Claudino Pérez Torres is an indigenous man of the Muruy (Uitoto) ethnicity, born in 1961 in the community of San Rafael, under the jurisdiction of the Encanto District, Resguardo Predio Putumayo, located in the northern part of the Amazonas Department, bordering Peru and between the departments of Caquetá and Putumayo. He is a cultural bearer and holds the title of "Abuelo" or "Taita" due to his extensive knowledge of cultural practices in rites, ceremonies, and traditional Amazonian medicine, including the ritual use of Tobacco, Coca, and Yage.
He is an indigenous leader who has held representative positions for the indigenous communities of the Amazon. He served as president of his Regional Organization OIMA, the indigenous Muruy organization of Amazonas, from 2000 to 2003, and was the indigenous representative on the Board of Directors of CorpoAmazonia from 2003 to 2006. He has supported multiple processes of various regional organizations in the Amazonas Department and the Amazon region.
He has an academic background in Philosophy from the Major Seminary of Bogotá (1982-1984) and the National University of Colombia (1988-2004), along with various additional seminars and courses. He has worked in both the public and private sectors for many years.
In recent years, he has been practicing and sharing his traditional knowledge through tobacco, coca, and yagé ceremonies in different regions of Colombia, such as the Eastern Plains, Antiquia, the Atlantic Coast, Boyacá, and others. Internationally, he has been performing Amazonian traditional medicine ceremonies in Venezuela, El Salvador, Mexico, the United States, Ireland, and Germany. His beautiful medicine, filled with good intentions, aims to heal both individuals and the collective with RESPECT, LOVE, and SERENITY-to reconnect us with our Divinity and to enjoy the precious gift of being ALIVE.
